Since the 1990s, variations of the tigerstripe pattern with a more greenish coloration have been used by the Ministry of Internal Affairs (Ministarstvo Unutrašnjih Poslova, MUP). This design was initially employed by Yugoslav People's Army (JNA) special forces units before being adopted by the MUP.

Distinguishing between the grey and green versions of the tiger stripe pattern can often be challenging. While extreme examples from both ends of the spectrum are clearly different, many intermediate variations blur the line and could fit into either category.
